Brush off Winter with L.A.B.2 Makeup Brushes!

Bonjourno Beauty Buffs,

I hope you are all doing okay and are enjoy crunchy leaf season. You may have seen quite a few reviews about these brushes recently but I wanted to test mine properly and wait closer to Christmas to review them.

Welcome to the world of L.A.B 2 brushes. I have a little bit of an obsession for brushes and I really don't think there are enough affordable collections around to give us frugal girls many options. Obviously we all know of Real Techniques which are amazing but equally I like to have options.

So obviously when L.A.B 2 came a knocking on my door I thought I must find out about these!

These brushes are strong. There's no two ways about it, I'm pretty sure they could take the most intense of makeup applications and still stand the test of time. One thing I love about these is the weight, some of you may think I'm ridiculous but to me weight=quality and I know a fair amount of people who would agree with me. The texture of the handle is a matte plastic but it's super smooth and comfortable to use. I also think the weight allows far more control, especially around the eyes.

The packaging for these brushes rock. That's why I wanted to review around Christmas because I think these would make a fabulous gift and one that I wouldn't mind receiving either. For someone who hasn't got into brushes yet I would highly recommend these because the handle of each brush tells you exactly what it is for which is far easier when following YouTube tutorials.

Initially the brushes had a bit of fall out but I think you will get that with most brushes and it always makes me appreciate that they've tried to get in as many bristles as possible!!

I received the "strokes of genius" kit, which is made for your eyes and they're fantastic at adding extra detail. I also got the "I'm turning pro" kit and the "the triple threat" brush. "I'm turning pro" includes a foundation, buffing, contour and eyeshadow brush so I think this is the best all rounder.

The brushes are available at Superdrug and you can see the whole range here!

Grow Gorgeous...Overnight to Gorgeous Hair Masque.

This is Grow Gorgeous. First and foremost I have to say this is one of my favourite hair care packages ever! The writing is in rose gold, the outer slip is like a raw cardboard it has a real luxury, organic vibe going for it which I am all for!

When it comes to my hair I need all the help I can get, from colouring it from a young age and going all the way through the colour wheel and back on it my hair is dry, damaged and split. Therefore I am super into hair care products so when I got sent this I was overjoyed.

I'd never used a hair masque overnight before but I can definitely see why you would, for a start you don't have to go out with greasy, sticky hair or you don't have to spend all day inside because you need to deep condition.

I was worried at first about the state I would get the bed and the sheets into with this on because I tend to burrow like a mole when I sleep!! I put a hand towel on the pillow and it turned out fine, not much came off onto the towel at all. I think my hair needed the hydration so didn't let any of the masque go.

When applying the masque I had to use quite a lot because my hair is long and very thick, I think I can probably get 4 full uses out of this bottle. You have to completely saturate your hair with it so that took quite a long time but the consistency was unlike usual conditioner, it was silky as opposed to sticky and the scent was amazing.

After looking at the website I realised the scent is there to help you drift off to sleep with the aroma notes of mountain woods. All I can say is it smelt luxurious and expensive, no false fruity fragrances here.

Washing it off the next day was quite tricky but that's because I only have a bath, I'm sure it's easier if you have a shower. So after some very hot water and a lot of rinsing I got it all out and styled my hair as usual. My ends looked less split and my fly-aways were tamed.

When I blow-dried it, it came out sleek not frizzy. I think I still had some residue left in there because my hair felt slightly heavy but that came out with my next wash. I highly recommend this for anyone with damaged or dry hair. It left mine feeling so hydrated and sleek. I love it so much! To buy it direct from Grow Gorgeous click here! xx

My Beauty Journey... The Next Few Years

So having already learnt about the earlier 'beauty' years it's now time to move on to secondary school where makeup was at the forefront of our attention!

I would probably say I was a little late on the makeup train, I loved bath products and perfumes but having seen my mum apply her makeup every morning, day in day out I guess I kind of couldn't be bothered.

Makeup was never really a mystery to me, having a much older sister and my mum around not a day went by that I didn't hear about whatever new lipstick one had or the awe that was permanent makeup. I could always rummage and have a play with whatever mum had about and she would tend to give me her dried up mascaras which I thought made a huge impact to my innocent little face when really it just coated my eyes in dry flakes.

When I did get into makeup though it was all about the trends, I'm sure there was a lot of "but all my friends have got it!" going on, poor mum.

Again as the first post, I think every girl around my age will totally get these references because whether north or south all school trends and rumours travelled the length and breadth of the country. What really sticks out in my mind was jungle green rimmel eyeliner. I have no idea why any of us thought we could get away with iridescent green pasted on our waterlines, especially coming from a catholic school. I was always the girl that got caught. Hmmph.

Obviously we were all acne ridden teenagers and those who weren't were clearly some other planet, ethereal beings. So quite clearly no liquid foundation was going to cover what we all had going on so when maybelline released the "dream matte mousse" we jumped on the bandwagon instantly. Despite it's clawing, cakey, drying, unspreadable texture we all adored it. Probably because it was quite fun to shove our fingers into (no one used makeup brushes then). A mix of this wall filler and green eyeballs really made us feel red carpet ready.

Onto the holy grail that is juicy tubes, often given away in magazines (that's how I got mine). These sickly smelling lip glosses never helped my lips but boy did I fit in when applying a fine slick of ultra shiny gloss which would last all of 15 minutes. Right so, so far we have weird green eyes, cakey foundation and sticky lips. Come at me boys.

To top off our green waterlines I chose a nice green dazzle dust. Dazzle dust was the top of everyone's makeup wishlist and Barry M did well with us teenie bobbers by bringing out so many must have colours. I know to this day that my eye makeup inspo was Poison Ivy (I later got the red hair to match).

Then, as if all of this wasn't already enough we had to make it look like we'd just come back from holiday, or (with the amount I applied) the deepest depth of hell. This brush with all the bronzer you needed packed inside didn't really allow for product control. You never thought you had enough on because you couldn't see it through the brush until you smeared it all over your face and subsequently everyone you were with had to put shades on to look at your big shiny face.

Look, we've all been there but if it hadn't been for these stable products of my teenage years, god only knows what I would look like now. These were the years I learnt, less is more.

Fall in Love, Autumn Home Decor.

Hey you!

Now I don't know about you but I strongly believe that Autumn is a time to start getting snuggly and prepare for the long winter months ahead. I really enjoy this season, I enjoy feeling the nip in the air and wrapping up in big knitted jumpers but I cannot abide a cold, bare home. Therefore I like to fill it what I think of as essentials in my home to ensure I can really enjoy those dark nights in. All pieces were found at ASDA

Let's start with the bedroom, the place that should be pure coziness. This bedspread is adorable and has the definition of hibernation printed on it which makes me love it even more! This starts from £12. Next we have this gorgeous cable knit hot water bottle, I love hot water bottles and I love this one loads because it has pom-poms! Plus it only costs £5. Lastly we have these super luxurious fur cushions, I love anything faux fur and these are no exception. They're £10 each.

Now because (as my mother always told me) you can't live in your bedroom I've picked a few things to help the Autumnal theme run into the living area. Starting with this cable knit throw, super cozy with a fleece lining and super chunky this will keep you super warm, £25. Next is this super cute squirrel in a bell jar, it's only £7 and I just think it's super adorable. Then finally to dress up the sofa there's this gorgeous circular hedgehog printed pillow. I love the folk style of this and the water colour effect and it's only £8.

It's always nice to add a few touches in your home throughout so the theme can continue and I found these amazing pieces. Firstly is the mounted antlers, fake of course but totally awesome and only £8 now reduced from £12. I love the greenery we have here in the UK and I know a lot of people miss it in the colder months so this £10 terrarium is perfect for bringing some bright succulents into your home to put a pep in your step. Finally continuing the hunting lodge effect we have these log effect coasters which I think rock and are only £3 for 4.

I hope you enjoyed my selections and maybe grab a few bits for your room this Autumn. I hope you all stay very warm and cozy!

Hey Guys,

My favourite time of year has come around again and I could not be happier. I'm already smelling people lighting their fires and can feel the crispness in the air in the evenings. Just to die for, but as all us makeup obsessives know it's also a time for a new palette. It's time for berry tones and pink cheeks, gold eye shades and foundation with great coverage.

Luckily for us, Makeup Revolution have put on a really good sale and they've included some perfect Autumn/Winter shades. Everything on the image above is definitely a must for me. From Couch to Couture with Cari's Closet!

Bonjour my lovely!

I am just home from a bit of shopping, when I say shopping I do not mean Oxford Street or Bluewater. I went to a garden center near where I live. Exciting I know. But they did have all of their Christmas decorations up, you may think it's too soon but it got me thinking soon it is party season and two months isn't really enough to save up for the dress of the year. So onto the internet I went and found an awesome website.

Now dress hire is really popular in the US but I haven't seen it too much in the UK until I came across Cari's Closet. They have beautiful couture dresses to hire out for a certain amount of days for a certain price and low and behold they have 11 pages to choose from. It's awesome, styles for any body shape and style.

I've already chosen my Christmas dress...

This is a beautiful Forever Unique Una dress in Mink and I love it. At £140 for 3 days you could look amazing without the extreme price tag. This dress will usually cost around £400 to buy and at half the price to borrow you also won't be brandished an outfit repeater!!

Not only does Cari's Closet rent dresses but they also have an awesome range of clothes for sale and they ship WORLDWIDE!!!

Check out Cari's Closet Instagram to grab some Autumn inspiration and buy the looks at www.cariscloset.ie
